Working for Captain Donald Cragen (Dann Florek, ''Law & Order''), the unit is charged with investigating cases considered particularly especially heinous. Each episode features new crimes puzzles to solve, and new victims to avenge and as well as new emotional personal struggles for the detectives handling this emotionally draining taxing job.
